Al Ain: Hisham Al Taher, a former member of the UAE national chess team and the secretary general of the Asian Chess Confederation (ACC), has invented a new dynamic rapid game that was part of the opening ceremonies of the 13th Fide World Youth Chess Championships.

The exhibition match called ‘Al Ain Chess’ was a simultaneous action game between two players over three to five boards with time limit ranges as per the rules and regulations of Fide Blitz and Rapid chess matches.

The match was held between UAE Grand Master Salem Abdul Rahman, the UAE and Arab champion and the winner of multiple Asian Championships (Under-14, 16 and 18) and Grand Master Evegenij Miroshnichenko of Ukraine. The five-minute match ended in a 2-2 tie.

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, the President of Fide, praised the game and said it is a good addition to the sport all over the world. “I am delighted and proud that my game has met with a warm welcome from the chess family. It is a small contribution to the game I love and will be registered as an invention from my country,” Al Taher said.
