Eid Al Adha now possible 4-day break

The Eid Al Adha holiday could now possibly be a four-day break instead of five days as was thought earlier. 

 

Eid Al Adha, which falls on the 10th day of Dhu Al Hijjah, is Thursday, September 24. 

 

With the private sector to be given at least three days for Eid Al Adha, it is likely this will run into the weekend resulting in a three-day break, plus September 23, a day before Eid Al Adha, which is Arafat Day – also a public holiday.

 

This brings the total to four days of holidays. Work should ideally resume on September 27.

 

The UAE federal government released a list of public holidays earlier this year.

 

It is important to note though, that Islamic holidays are subject to moon sightings and may differ from our estimations.
