1. Jimmy Kimmel’s opening monologue.

A hilarious and very entertaining opening speech that covered Trump, the OJ cast and of course Game of Thrones, in which he encouraged anyone acting in a show without dragons or a white bronco to just “go home”. During the speech Kimmel was very confident and clearly able to execute every one of his jokes well. During the pretaped segment of the show, the host was “running late” to the Emmys and decided to hitch a ride with several people to get to the show on time. He donned his tuxedo and bowtie and got into O.J. Simpson’s white Bronco, Phil Dunphy’s minivan from “Modern Family,” Selina Meyer’s limo from “Veep,” the hilarious James Corden’s carpool karaoke car before ending the segment by taking a dragon for the final leg of the journey.

2. The funky cast of Stranger Things

Technically, this wasn’t something anyone was able to watch on their TV because this moment was not aired. Before the show on Sunday, the kids from the hit series Stranger Things, Gaten Matarazzo, Millie Bobby Brown and Caleb McLoughlin entertained the star studded audience by shaking it to “Uptown Funk" by Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson.

3. Game of Thrones dominating with award wins

Game of Thrones won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series for the second year in a row. Everyone’s favourite show also took home the awards for Outstanding Director and Outstanding Writer for the episode "Battle of the Bastards."

4. Julia Louis-Dreyfus acceptance speech

Veteran Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy. This is her fifth Emmy in a row. She usually gives a very funny and light speech, which she managed to do at first with a funny jab at Donald Trump, but the rest of her speech was emotional, as she remembers her father who passed away days before the ceremony. She mentioned that she was happy he liked her show Veep, “because his opinion was the one that really mattered.”

5. Pryanka Chopra’s gorgeous red dress

The Indian actress totally stole the show in this beautiful off the shoulder red Jason Wu gown. She looked radiant and even did a little twirl, as one should in a dress like that.

6. Rami Malek wins his first Emmy

Egyptian born Rami Malek won his first Emmy ever for Lead Actor in a Drama in his dark series Mr. Robot. The actor jokes “Please tell me you’re seeing this, too,” by poking fun at his paranoid and awkward alter ego, Elliot. "I play a young man who is like so many of us profoundly alienated and the unfortunate thing is, I’m not sure how many of us would want to hang out with a guy like Elliot. I want to honor the Elliots because there’s a little bit of Elliot in all of us, isn’t there?" Rami Malek said during his acceptance speech

7. Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel's feud

Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel have a very funny and documented frenemy situation happening. They jokingly and very publicly feud with one another. This was implemented very funnily into the Emmys, as Matt Damon, eating an apple, heckles the host for losing to John Oliver at his own show. Damon also hilariously referenced a line from his Oscar winning movie Good Will Hunting before he went off stage "Tell your mom I like them apples."

8. Jimmy Kimmel's mom makes Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches for everyone

We all know celebs starve themselves before any award show, so that they can look their best. Jimmy wanted to treat the hungry stars by bringing them home made PB&J sandwiches made by his very own mother. Jimmy’s mom made 7,000 sanwhiches, which were handed out to audience members by young cast of stranger things on their bikes. The gag went down very well.

9. Diversity

Remember how everyone was making a point that the Oscars were not diverse enough? We all remember how the hastag #OscarsSoWhite was trending for a while. Well this time around, diversity was a main focus of the Emmy’s. Winners included Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang, Courtney B. Vance, Sterling K. Brown and Rami Malek. It was an awesome night of brilliant diversity and Jimmy Kimmel hilariously commented “The only thing Hollywood loves more than diversity is congratulating themselves for diversity.”

10. The best celebrity date

Actress Sarah Paulson, who plays the role of Marcia Clark in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story actually brought the real-life Marcia Clark as her plus one. Jimmy Kimmel obviously did not fail to notice and jokingly told her “This must be very strange for you, right? Are you rooting for O.J. to win this time?” Luckily she laughed it off along with the rest of the audience.
