We are always on the lookout for the coolest sneakers, and where best to find them than at Sole DXB (November 18 and 19). The participating brands will be putting their best foot forward – pun intended – but here we list the limited edition ones which you can get exclusively at the event.

1. Dipped in gold

Level Shoes have a high-profile list of designer footwear brands in 2016 but one of their best sneakers on display this year is one by APL (Athletic Propulsion Labs). They are featuring a grade 1 alligator trainer, handcrafted in Italy and dipped in 24 karat gold.

2. Sneaker comfort with boot protection

All of us love the comfort of sneakers but wish it would protect our foot more. This year at Sole DXB Palladium drops its limited edition Pampatech, which is a collaboration with Black Scale. The shoes are waterproof while offering the comfort and style of sneakers.

3. Surgeon at work

A five-piece collection of revamped best-sellers including Jordan 1's and 3's, Huarache's and Air Force 1's in a range of luxury materials including python, gator hints, horween leather, nubuck (suede-feel cow hide leather) and fringe accents. Each pair of these hand-made sneakers takes 40 hours of work and will be available for purchase.

4. 3D effect on Invader 2.0

From adidas originals comes a limited release for Sole DXB - based on the progressive silhouette of Invader 2.0, this design boasts a disruptive 3D pattern and premium suede. Complete with blacked-out panels and a milky white outsole, this edition is sure to get heads turning.

5. Swag with Puma

Tanned ostrich leather, with gold tip laces and made complete with gold foil logo detailing, this limited edition sneaker will be available for purchase exclusively to Sole DXB visitors for a price of Dh620. Inspired by the b-boy and hip-hop culture that originated from the streets of New York City, PUMA Clyde X SOLE swag oozes elements of b-boy culture and freedom of expression in its design.

6. Olympics 1988 re-imagined in 2016

Diadora’s 1989 collection marked the best from the Seoul Olympics of 1988 and featured two unique running shoes then – IC4000 and Intrepid. This year, Diadora brings to the UAE a modern take on these archival models in collaboration with some of the world’s best sneaker shops in the world. With seven unique designs in the limited edition, the impact control system of both of these athletic running shoes have been left intact. Designed for mid and long distance runners, the designers aim at bringing an urban culture twist on these historic models.

7. Just a handful in the world

Attention sneaker collectors! Sole DXB will showcase the iconic and cult favourite ‘German Army Trainers’ replica by Margiela, brought to the Middle East for the first time. These shoes, originally created for German army troops in the 1970’s, have been repeatedly brought into fashion by various brands over time. The production of the original shoes crafted to military specifications stopped in the mid 1980’s while only a handful of true-form replicas, like Margiela’s, exist in the world now.

8. Reimagining EQT Support from 1993

One from adidas originals range at Sole DXB, the classic aesthetic of the Equipment Support model of 1993 is given a rework with modern design and kaleidoscopic Xeno material. The Xeno overlays and hardware, when hit by light, shift to reveal the shoe’s original ’93 colours.
