What it’s about? A revolutionary show that follows a young man named Elliot (Rami Malek) who is hyper aware that the human race is slave to the corporation. Elliot is a young programmer who works as a cyber-security engineer by day and is a vigilante hacker by night. He is mysteriously drafted by underground hackers, who want him to help them destroy corporate America, especially the company he is paid to protect.

Why it’s worth your while? It’s a show that really makes you think and question who you are and what role you're playing in life.

2. How to get away with murder

Memorable Quote: “Never take a learning opportunity away from another student, no matter how smart you need everyone to think you are.”



What it’s about? Calling all people who live in Shondaland this one’s for you. This show follows the life of a brilliant law professor Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) and a group of ambitious law students, who get entangled in a murder that completely changes their lives. It moves between the past and the present and features complex character with complex stories.

Why it’s worth your while? It’s very addictive and will constantly keep you on the edge of your seat.

3. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Memorable Quote:  “Can’t the world be my noodles and butter?”



What it’s about? A hilarious show penned and produced by Tina Fey, which follows the life of happy-go-lucky Kimmy Schmidt (Ellie Kemper), who has been rescued after living in an underground bunker for the last 15 years. Kimmy decides to taker her life back and moves to New York City, where her naïve and wide-eyed enthusiasm gets her into hilarious situations.

Why it’s worth your while? The clever and up-to-date pop culture references come fast and cleverly integrated into the story. It’s a laugh a minute.

4. Under the Dome

Memorable Quote: “Look outside. The apocalypse has been cancelled. It's not the first time the dome has lied to us.”



What it’s about? This Adaptation from the Stephen King novel, tells the story about a town - Chester's Mill - in Maine that ends up under a mysterious transparent dome, which literally cuts them off from the rest of the world. While certain people of the town start to panic, a small group of them take on leadership positions in order to maintain peace and order under the dome, as well as trying to discover the truth about this mysterious entity and why it chose them as the ones to live imprisoned.

Why it’s worth your while? Apart from the fact that it’s a great story, Under the Dome, really explores human behaviors when no one else, like the government or the law, has a say.

5. Broadchurch

Memorable Quote: “Grief is like a splinter deep into every fingertip; to touch anything is torture.



What it's about? An out of town Detective, Alec Hardy (David Tennant), is brought into a sleepy Dorset town, when the body of an 11-year-old British boy, is found covered in blood on the beach. Detective Alec has to work together with the local detective Ellie Miller (Olivia Coleman), who feels like she should have been the lead invstigator, rather than Alec. The story follows both detectives as they work out their differences and solve the case. As one suspect eventually gets charged for the crime, the trial then exposes the secrets of the townspeople.

Why it’s worth your while? Because the British are excellent at crime dramas and this one will be your next obsession. Finding out who the killer is, will consume you until the last episode.

6. Making a Murder

Memorable Quote: “If we wanted to eliminate Steven, it would’ve been a whole lot easier to eliminate Steven than to frame Steve...or if we wanted him killed, it would be much easier just to kill him”



What it’s about? When Columbia graduate students Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos read about a man named Steven Avery, they believed that his story would make for an interesting documentary. Little did they know that it would be one of the most publicised crime docu-series of its time. Avery is a man who has been exonerated from prison, after spending almost 20 years behind bars for a crime that he did not commit. The docu-series, first captures how he files for a lawsuit against Manitowoc County and some of the detectives that were involved in his wrongful arrest. While pursuing the damages for his wasted life in prison, the authorities turn the tables on Avery and place him under arrest. The series takes an unexpected turn as Avery is accused of the murder of 25-year-old photographer Teresa Halbach and finds himself behind bars once again.

Why it’s worth your while? Because this is real life! A rollercoaster of emotions and evidence keeps pointing in different directions, so it keeps you on edge as you watch.

7. Outlander

What it’s about? Outlander follows the story of Claire Randall, (Caitriona Balfe) who is enjoying a second honeymoon in Scotland with her husband Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies), after serving as a nurse in WWII. While taking a walk in an ancient Scottish site, Claire is transported 200 years to the past and into a mysterious world. In order for Claire to survive this tumultuous time in Scottish history, she marries Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a Scots warrior. They fall passionately in love and Claire is caught in a love triangle through time.

Why it’s worth your while? Because Outlander has something for everyone. History, romance, action, drama and some disarming comedy. Also Claire is one of the fiercest female leads on TV right now.

8. Downtown Abbey

Memorable Quote: "First electricity, now telephones. Sometimes I feel as if I were living in an H.G. Wells novel."



What it’s about? As we mentioned before, the British do drama quite well and one of their best exports is Downton Abbey, an Emmy award winning series, which follows the lives of the Crawley family and its servants at the family's Georgian house in the country. The show takes place in 1912, when the Titanic sinks and the heirs of the Earl of Grantham die in the ship. The family is now left without a man to take over Downton. The only ones left are the ladies, Mary Crawley (Michelle Dockery), Edith Crawley (Laura Carmichael) and Sybil Crawley (Jessica Brown-Findlay) and their fascinating stories. 

Why it’s worth your while? Because it combines all elements of an amazing show: the characters, the drama, the costumes, the dialog and the quick and measured pace.

9. Revenge

What it’s about? This is a really unique and addictive storyline. It follows the young and beautiful Emily Thorne (Emily Vancamp), whose real name is Amanda Clarke. She moves to the Hamptons to seek revenge from a group of wealthy people who framed her father, for causing a terrorist attack. She wants to destroy the lives of the wealthy people who put him in jail, where he spent 20 years and recently passed away. Emily’s moves are careful and calculated and cause destruction to anyone who stands in her way.

Why it’s worth your while? Revenge has a great storyline, fabulously evil characters with diabolical scheming and drama. Additionally, the fashion on the show is truly show-stopping.

10. Once Upon a time

Memorable Quote: “The Evil Queen is inside me always trying to get out.”



What it’s about? If you have an inner child, who loves fairy tales, then this will be a really fun show for you. The amazing references are pretty cool and you get to see the amazing stories behind why your favorite characters are the way they are today. The show follows the life of a bail bonds collector named Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison). The son that Emma gave up for adoption 10 years ago, Henry, suddenly shows up in her life and takes her to the small town of Storybrooke (I know right!). The young boy is convinced that she is the daughter of Snow white and Prince Charming. Emma decides to stay in Storybrooke to keep a watchful eye on Henry, and discovered that he might not be wrong after all.

Why it’s worth your while? Once Upon a Time, may sound like a lame show in theory, I mean fairytales… really? But watch the show and you will understand why it’s in its sixth season.

11. Versailles

Memorable Quote: “Terrible things happen to kings.”



What it’s about? If you’re a history buff, then Versailles is a great one to watch. The show is about the construction of Versailles Palace and all the war, love and politics that came with it, during the reign of Louis XIV (George Blagden). The show is set in 1667 after the death of Louis' mother, where the Sun King's Machiavellian makes the decision to move the court from Paris to Versailles. Louis is now at war with the nobility, the princes and the law and he wants to gain the power of the throne.

Why it’s worth your while? It is meant to be an accurate depiction of what actually happened in 16th century France. Other reasons include: The costumes, the politics and the wigs.

12. Game of Thrones

What it’s about? While you are waiting for Game of Thrones, why not watch Game of Thrones all over again? We are and we still love it. You have a good 6 seasons of watching (or re-watching) to do. As you may or may not know, Game of Thrones is based on the books by George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire". The story follows two powerful families fighting for control over the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, and of course to take a seat on the Iron Thrones.

Why it’s worth your while? Because it’s one of the most entertaining shows on television. That is it.
