National Geographic Abu Dhabi, the Arabic language edition of the international channel, is to premiere a documentary called Every Emirati’s Son, an in-depth look at the lives of the UAE’s National Service.
The National Service is the mandatory military service for all male UAE nationals that are between 18 and 30 years old.
The four-part series will follow six young Emiratis as they endure the challenging physical and mental demands of military service, and record their transformation into young soldiers ready to protect their country.
The documentary was filmed over nine months across the UAE.
“We are excited to provide our viewers with a never-before-seen look into the UAE’s National Service and the transformations that recruits have to go through as they adjust to rigorous training routines. This documentary presents a unique opportunity for us to bring together viewers from across the Arab region so they can, together, witness the power of national pride,” said Sanjay Raina, National Geographic Abu Dhabi Middle East.
Every Emirati’s Son airs every Monday on National Geographic Abu Dhabi at 9.50pm UAE. The show is in Arabic.
