Dubai: Dubai will host one of the most exciting matches of the second edition of Coca-Coca International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) when Obi UAE Royals’ Roger Federer squares off with Andy Murray of Oue Singapore Slammers during the Dubai leg of the event on December 15.

The venue of the second edition, Aviation Club, is the backyard of the Swiss master as he has won seven Dubai Duty Free Open championship titles on the hard court there. A revealing piece of statistic says in 2015 alone, Federer served 327 aces, has won 81 per cent of first serve points and secured an astonishing 93 per cent in service games won on hard court surfaces.

“Federer is one the greatest tennis superstars to have ever played and the hard court surface of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium provides us with a significant competitive advantage.” said Neelesh Bhatnagar, co-owner of the Obi UAE Royals. “He is currently the defending men’s single’s champion in Dubai and has the accolades, knowledge and skill set to perform at superior levels in this venue.”

“Furthermore, having two of the top three tennis superstars in the world compete in Dubai in December further strengthens the nation’s drive to make this country a prime destination for supreme international sporting competition.”

The UAE Royals franchise team consists of Roger Federer, Marin Cilic, Tomas Berdych, Daniel Nestor, Goran Ivanisevic, Ana Ivanovic and Kristina Mladenovic.

Teams that will be participating at this year’s IPTL include: Micromax Indian Aces, Legendari Japan Warriors, Philippine Mavericks, Oue Singapore Slammers and the Obi UAE Royals.

Tickets for the 2015 IPTL are now available at http://platinumlist.net. In addition, official banking partner Emirates NBD has announced a special discount of 15 per cent to all cardholders for the purchase of the IPTL Dubai leg tickets.
