This year, the students of Our Own English High School Sharjah - Boys, celebrated Earth Hour in a mall in Sharjah. It was a great event and everyone enjoyed it.
The greatest threat to the environment is the belief that someone else will save the Earth. Our mission targeted this belief. Most of us are prone to think, ‘let others start something, then I will join in’, or we think we don’t have the ability to take a step towards protecting the Earth.
During the event, we explained to people that we don’t need to wait for others and we don’t need to be the best to start. We need to always keep thinking about the Earth.
In the beginning, we may be able to do small acts, but every action counts - whether it’s big or small. Every step towards the protection of the Earth is never futile.
We were able to spread awareness through this event and gave people unique ideas to save the environment. During Earth Hour, we also lit many candles in the shape of the Earth Hour logo.
We had two band performances, wherein the songs were composed specifically for the environment. Earth Hour was celebrated in a unique way and the event also gave a chance for students to come up and speak about Mother Nature and share their thoughts with everyone.
We started planning for it one month ago and saw the results of it finally at a great event.
We encourage everyone to participate in special days dedicated to supporting the Earth. Our planet has given us a lot and these days allow us to do something in return.
