The theme song from Disney’s hit TV show Elena of Avalor — featuring the first ever Latina princess — is getting an Arabic makeover. Lebanese singer Hiba Tiwaji has recorded a version of My Time, which has been included in her album, Hiba Tiwaji 30, available from March 30.

Elena of Avalor tells the story of teen princess Elena Castillo Flores as she saves her magical kingdom of Avalor from an evil sorceress. The song My Time expresses the joy and freedom of Elena and is one of the first Disney Channel songs to be recorded by an Arabic star. Tiwaji, originally from Beirut, is also an accomplished actress and director, having been mentored by renowned Lebanese composer and producer Oussama Rahbani. She shot to international fame when she reached the semi-finals of France’s version of The Voice, in which she was coached by Mika.

“Recording a song for Disney is a dream come true. I love the song My Time and wanted to interpret it the best way I could. The character of Elena is one I admire and connect with, as she’s such a courageous leader and inspiring role model to children. I hope Elena of Avalor fans love the song as much as I enjoyed making it,” she said.
