Advance ticket sales opened in UAE on Sunday for the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol film
Dilwale, the first film in five years to reunite Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, doesn’t release in the UAE until December 17, but movie fans can already buy their tickets.
On that day, film fans have a choice between that Bollywood pairing of epic proportions and Star Wars.
Dilwale releases on the same day as the sixth film in the sci-fi franchise and both films are tipped to be blockbusters.
With UAE cinemas keen to lock in ticket sales and drive buzz, tickets for both films have now gone on sale, nearly two months ahead of the releases. Tickets for Star Wars — The Force Awakens went on sale last week, breaking records in the US and UK for advance sales. They also went on sale in the UAE on Thursday.
Vox Cinemas on Sunday started advance bookings for Dilwale at all their locations in the UAE, and are at the time of writing the only UAE chain to sell Dilwale tickets. A Vox spokesperson on Monday could not comment on how strong ticket sales have been. Stay tuned for details.
