Meet the new Miss Lebanon Rosarita Tawil

Eighteen young women battled it out in two ceremonies to become Miss Lebanon. Rosarita Tawil was chosen to wear the crown for the next year.

From the beginning of the competition, the charismatic Tawil showed self-confidence, spontaneousness and wit in answering the questions.

Tony Baroud and Roula Safa hosted both ceremonies. During the final, Lebanese singer Assi Hellani performed several songs on stage.

In one of them, Syrian singer Rouweda Attieh accompanied him. They sang their new duet Sahraa Al Shark (The Orient's Desert).

Tawil, a business administration student, is 20 years old. She is from Kaytouleh, a village in Jezzine, southern Lebanon.

Dominique: Singing is just a hobby

Dominique Hourani always dreamt of becoming famous. When she was a teenager, she took part in different beauty contests, and then she became a model.

After a while, she decided to become a singer. Thanks to her looks and sexy videos, she became famous.

Then she married a European millionaire of Iranian origin, became pregnant and moved to Europe, where she lives between London, Vienna, Paris, Monaco and the French Riviera.

It seems that Hourani has changed her plans. Eight months pregnant, she said recently to the press that she is "not like other artists. I will not cling on to my career at the expense of my family life. Singing is just a hobby for me".

A few years ago, when she left acting, she also explained that it was just a hobby for her. It seems that Hourani has other plans.

She's planning a line of clothes bearing her name for the European and Arab market. She says her husband is helping her to open a clothes factory.

Hourani also said that she "feels secure when she mingles with internationally famous people, whether they are politicians or international business men".

"It helps a lot and it broadens your horizons", she added, rejecting accusations of being "a go-getter".

Back to the studio

Lebanese TV host Nadine Fallah finished the first season of her TV show Sayidati produced by Rotana Khalijiya and filmed in Dubai.

For the next season, the show — which tackles mainly social issues — will be shot in the Rotana studios in Beirut. Fallah was also chosen lately by Rotana to host an important ceremony in Dubai.

Fallah, who left Rotana two years ago for Abu Dhabi TV, where she hosted the programme Enta Min (Who are you?) is happy to go back to the station that made her famous.

The Lebanese TV host, whose sister is singer Joanna Mallah, said that "she has also a nice voice but that she won't sing because success comes only when one concentrates his efforts on one field".

She also said that she accepts criticism easily and that she has an eagle eye when she has to see her own mistakes. "I am the first one to criticise myself," she added.
