Emirati artist Faisal Al Saari and Syrian singer Abood Bashir will take to the stage for a night of music and song inspired by the poems of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan as the Emirati Music Series returns on January 14 at the Abu Dhabi Theatre. The series brings together Emirati and Middle Eastern musicians to find new ways to preserve musical traditions of the UAE.

The night will also feature songs in the Muwashahat style, an Arabic poetic form and a secular musical genre with connotations of spirituality. The performance, as curated by Al Saari, seeks to adapt the Muwashahat style to that of an Emirati performance.

The Emirati Music Series is a project of the Department of Culture and Tourism — Abu Dhabi’s annual Music Programme, along with Abu Dhabi Classics, Bait Al Oud and the Umsiyat series.

Performances are free to attend and will begin at 8pm. For more on the series and other events, go to abudhabimusic.ae.
