To celebrate its 10th anniversary year this year, Dubai’s very own community theatre Ductac is launching a series of self-produced shows featuring the best of UAE talent. Called Ductac presents, the series launches on May 14 with Sirens of the Silver Screen, a musical cabaret featuring Dubai-based actor and singer Beth Burrows.

The three-part act, each part lasting 25 minutes each, will take audiences into the world of old Hollywood glamour as Burrows takes on some iconic names, from Judy Garland to Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. She will perform their songs and shed some light on their careers.

“[The show] is a whistle-stop tour through the lives of Hollywood’s golden girls, a whirlwind trip down the glamorous red carpet of yesteryear,” says Burrow, who also wrote the script. “Creating this show has been an incredible experience; these women have intrigued, shocked and thrilled me in ways I never expected. There is so much more to them than meets the eye — I can’t wait to share their stories.”

Other shows lined up under the series include performances by classical guitar duo Feras Rada and Dina Boukzam and stand-up comedian Nylon on May 21; and a production of Shakespeare comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor from June 2 to 4.

Tickets for Sirens of the Silver Screen on May 14 are priced at Dh100 (Balcony) and Dh150 (Stalls). For students, it’s Dh75. They are available at the Ductac box office at Mall of the Emirates or online at www.ductac.org. Call 04-3414777.
