Ms Marvel Volume 1, featuring the first Muslim superhero character, will launch in the UAE this week, both in English and Arabic.

The comic revolves around Pakistani-American Kamala Khan, a high school student in New Jersey, who is exploring her inhuman genes, her ability to shapeshift and her superhero future.

Al Ahli Holding Group will release the title in the GCC and UAE. It is the only company with rights to publish the series in Arabic and English outside the USA.

“Our fans in the region have been asking for updates on the launch of Ms Marvel and there has been a higher anticipation amongst our Arabic readers,” said Zuheir Ayoubi, General Manager, Retail and Licensing, at AAHG.

The first volume of Ms Marvel made the New York Times bestseller last year and generated buzz with its groundbreaking central character, who is both a girl of colour and a Muslim.

“Our readers in the Mena region have been awaiting this launch with bated breath as this is the first time a Muslim character gets to headline her own comic book. In this region, the readers will be able to identify more with the character. We will also be launching limited edition of signed copies of this comic book series for our fans shortly,” said Abdullah Mahmoud, Director, Marketing and Corporate Communication, at AAHG.
