Dubai International Financial Centre is hosting the first public exhibition in the UAE by Italian sculptor and painter Oliviero Rainaldi. The exhibition showcases four sculptures by Rainaldi on the area encircling the iconic Gate Building.

Rainaldi’s works will be on display until September 13, as part of the DIFC’s newly-launched Art Integration Programme which weaves art into the fabric of the community while connecting people through creative outdoor living. The Art Integration Programme will also showcase the artworks of British artist, and one of the world’s most distinguished sculptors, Sir Tony Cragg.

“Exquisite pieces from both artists will add value to the DIFC’s art scene, enhancing the cultural experience for those living and working in the district,” said Raja Al Mazrouei, senior vice-president, marketing and corporate communications at DIFC Authority.

The exhibition, The Nature of Things, features four works created from bronze: Human Baptisms (2003), Human Baptisms II (2009), Argonaut (2010) and Fallen (2013). Two of these pieces have been featured at DIFC Art Nights, where the exhibition was launched, on March 13 and displayed for a week in the Gate Village. Rainaldi’s exhibition at DIFC is sponsored by Maserati.

Alongside the outdoor exhibition hosted by DIFC, 30 of Rainaldi’s paintings and drawings were showcased in March at d3 @ Sconci Art Gallery, the first Italian contemporary gallery in Dubai. The exhibition traced Rainaldi’s artistic growth from 1989 to date.

Rainaldi’s exhibitions are held under the auspices of the Embassy of Italy to the UAE and the Consulate General of Italy in Dubai and have been organised by Sabrina Menichetti and Laura Garzia in partnership with Studio Arte 15.
