UAE-based children’s musical group, Malhaar Junior, will make its debut at the City 1016 Winter Wonders Concert to be held on the main stage of the Global Village on December 10 at 6.30pm. The non-profit group, which is an offshoot of Malhaar, the biggest Indian music ensemble in the UAE, will present an Indian classical composition in choir form.

“Malhaar is a group of UAE-based professionals from different fields who share a love for classical Indian music. We want to pass on our knowledge and love for music to the next generation by training children in Indian classical music and giving them exposure in their formative years. This is perhaps the only children’s choir in the region that performs Indian classical and folk music in choir form. These talented, well-trained youngsters reflect the new face of India, which is progressive yet reverent of our musical heritage,” Jogiraj Sikidar, the founder of Malhaar, says.

“Malhaar also started its musical journey with a concert at the Global Village seven years ago. We hope that Malhar Junior will follow in the footsteps of Malhaar and present quality music shows to a new generation of audiences. And when the members — who are under 18 now — grow up, they will seamlessly move into Malhaar,” he adds.
