Asian Swimming Championships
Why go?
1. We totally caught water-sport fever during the London Olympics, so to fill that gaping hole we recommend heading to the Asian Swimming Championships, which will be in town for 11 days, starting this weekend.
2. You’ll be able to watch swimming races and synchronised swimming competitions from November 15 to 18, while water polo and diving competitions are held from November 19 to 25. The Chinese athletes are some of the best in the world, and they’ll mostly be competing.
3. The UAE are competing in a host of the swimming events, including all the men’s freestyle and breaststroke races and men’s group and individual medleys. Mohammed Al Ghafri is the UAE athlete to keep an eye on as he won bronze in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke at last year’s Swimming
World Cup.

Sleeping Beauty
Thanks to the Moscow City Ballet, you could be in for a fantastic dose of culture this weekend, as they stage a magnificent performance of the Sleeping Beauty ballet. Watch in awe as the young ballerinas dance out the iconic fairytale, which tells the story of the beautiful young Princess Aurora who’s cursed by an evil fairy to sleep for 100 years until she is awakened by the kiss of her handsome prince.
You will be dazzled and absolutely blown away by the talent of the dance company – which just happens to be one of the best in Russia – and captivated by the story from the moment it begins until the final dramatic seconds.

The Woman in Black
If you’re a fan of a good spooking you need to get your hands on tickets to see Woman In Black, the iconic and terrifying West End play that was recently adapted into a film starring Daniel Radcliffe. We recommend you take a bag big enough to hide behind as you watch the story of a young lawyer obsessed with getting to the bottom of a curse that’s been cast over his family, with chilling consequences. It’s made even more real in a theatre, and is very, very scary.
