DSF attracts shoppers from all over the world Image Credit: supplied

DUBAI The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) has lit up the city with fun, festivities and shopping. Loads of it.

And like every time, electronics is top of the heap on shopping lists.

While Gitex may hold monopoly on electronics, DSF is not far behind, especially given the fact it comes a good three months after Gitex when many new launches take place and prices of products launched recently come down.

Nadeem Khanzadah, Head — Retail, Jumbo Electronics told XPRESS DSF comes at a perfect time. “Due to the nature of the electronics industry, products get redundant fast. So the timing of DSF is great. Long enough after Gitex to allow for prices to fall or newer products to be on offer.”

Ashish Panjabi, COO of Jacky’s Electronics agreed: “We enter a post-Christmas period so launches that we may have struggled to get availability during the season because we were competing with Europe and the US, we’re able to get a lot more of during DSF.”

Neelesh Bhatnagar, CEO of Emax said DSF offers value added bundles and deals and unmatched discounts on technology products. “This year we are offering up to Dh20 million worth of giveaways as rewards to our customers. Televisions and SLRs along with smartphones, tablets and laptops are doing well this DSF,” he said.

According to Panjabi, a lot of traction is seen in smartphones, tablets and bigger screen size television category this DSF.

Khanzadah said as DSF is popular, people from all over the globe descend on Dubai adding to big numbers. “Unlike Gitex, which is a week of concentrated offers, DSF lasts a whole month. This gives vendors time to mix up offerings and keep consumers on their toes.“

Khanzadah said. DSF acts like an indicator for buying trends for the rest of the year. “Smartphones, tablets, DSLR cameras and televisions continue to lead the market. Samsung, iPhone, Sony and HTC are popular smartphones, while Vaio, Apple Macs, HP and Lenovo are in-demand laptops. Cameras include Canon, Nikon and Sony. In TVs, it’s Sony, Samsung and LG.”

So what are you waiting for? Go, grab the biggest bargains. And in case you are confused, XPRESS sifts through the lot to bring you the best deals in town this DSF.
