British producer and DJ Bonobo will headline the annual live music and art festival Groove on the Grass in Dubai on February 23 at the Emirates Golf Club.

The Grammy-nominated musician, whose debut album Animal Magic released in 2000, will perform along with an eight-piece band. The line-up also includes Simian Mobile Disco, George Fitzgerald, Barnt and seven regional DJs.

Bonobo, whose real name is Simon Green, was nominated at this year’s Grammy Awards for Best Dance/Electronic Album for Migration. The track Bambro Koyo Ganda, from the same album, was also nominated for Best Dance Recording.

Now in its sixth year, Groove On The Grass is the home-grown cultural and music festival featuring activities, artistic instalments and pop-up stalls.

“We are proud to say that Groove On The Grass has grown tremendously and outlasted most festivals that have entered and not survived in this market. We are a Dubai heritage brand, homegrown and pushing creative boundaries further every season,” said Deian Markov, organiser and managing director at The Artist Network. “The music and arts community in Dubai has been growing strong. We have an excellent line-up of talented international artists this year and have planned a range of exciting activities for our fans.”

Tickets, starting at Dh265, are now available online. The event has an age restriction of 21 years and above.
