With newcomers Athiya and Sooraj Pancholi as showstoppers, designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock presented their French-inspired bridal wear line at the BMW India Bridal Fashion Week (IBFW) .

Both the actors, who will be making a dream Bollywood debut in Salman Khan’s production Hero, highlighted the theme of French romance and luxury on the ramp.

Walking hand-in-hand, Shetty and Pancholi rocked all-black ensembles as they confidently took a bow in front of the audience.

“I feel so blessed to have got this opportunity to walk the ramp for them. The energy was so great on the ramp. So much positivity. I just love the whole collection. I think we did the best we could do,” Shetty, 22, said.

Pancholi, 25, seemed a little nervous on the ramp.

“Yes I was nervous. It was the hardest three minutes of my life. But once I saw Athiya I felt relaxed.”

Titled ‘That Is It’, the inspiration behind the collection was the designers recent holiday in France and it featured vintage and floral influences, reminiscent of the evergreen French splendour.

“The collection is inspired from the French Riviera. It is more floral and has got a vintage feel to it. We got the idea after our recent holiday in France. We had a show at Cannes and then we went to Paris. It was beautiful and I keep telling Shane,” Falguni said.

The pair have styled celebrities such as Fergie, Nicole Scherzinger, Nikki Minaj, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Shakira and Beyonce Knowles.

The collection featured around 40 outfits in opulent fabrics like chantilly lace, imported organza, tulle and pure satin. The detailed yet delicate work has been balanced by the elegant colour palette.

The collection ranges from delicate shades of gold, frosted almond, champagne, salmon pink and placid blue to bold colours like black and red.

“It is very feminine and has been infused with fresh colours mixed with a lot of silver and gold. So, it is a beautiful blend of pastels,” Falguni said.

The bridal line features a wide variety of silhouettes like voluminous and slim fit floor scraping gowns, dresses, bridal wear, sarees, lehengas, and sari-gowns.

Premium quality embellishments like rhinestones, bugle beads, crystals, glass sequins and feathers have been used.

Falguni said in keeping with the traditions, applique work forms the main feature of the collection with floral motifs and prints of the revered French architecture, embroidered with multicoloured geometric crystals and sequins.
