The Meydan IMAX theatre in Dubai is no longer reserved for screening films. From April 17 to 19, a live show by the name of The Imagineer will debut at the venue, the first of its magnitude to do so.

The Imagineer comes to life at the hands – and feet – of experimental Vegas group Le Petit Cirque, which literally translates into “The Little Circus”. The troupe combines the talents of acrobats, dancers, choreographers and contortionists from around the world. The performers bring to fruition director Alexander Stroynov’s vision of a protagonist’s journey through a fantasy world.

Halil Gashi, an English, German, and Albanian performer, will step into the shoes of “The Imagineer” himself. Gashi brings to the table his experiences as a prior member of Cirque du Soleil where he performed as part of the Beatles’ Love show for over three years.

At the beginning of the show, Gashi wanders through a desert before stepping through a gated archway to enter into a larger-than-life imaginary world. He comes across various characters and situations that reflect different aspects of his mind. The surreal adventure of exploration and acceptance is heightened through the combination of performance art and advanced technology.

*The Imagineer will run at the Meydan IMAX in Dubai for three nights. One show is available on April 17 at 8pm. Two shows are available at 5pm and 8pm on both April 18 and 19. Tickets, found through platinumlist.net, range between Dh150, Dh250 and Dh400.
