Dubai: A variety of stunning works of art adorn the walls of the recently opened Pro-Art gallery. The paintings form an artistic depiction of the life's lows and highs in a riot of colours through the painter's eye.
The exhibition is unique in its idea — it's artistic collaboration between eminent Russian artist Valery Rostovsky and his two talented sons, Konstantin Rostovsky and Valery Rostovsky Jr.
The absence of Valery Rostovsky at the opening night of the exhibition was made up by his vibrant 28 watercolour paintings and they spoke best for him. The paintings show that they "are all inspired by nature, and that depiction of reality is best when one pictures nature". They throw light on the creative mind of an artist who looks at life from an optimistic and vibrant perspective.
As you walk around you will observe the importance of horses in Rostovsky's life. For example, work themed At the Old Town Wall", Meeting and Journey Break showcase lovely horses. The images display in extraordinary detail the animal's beauty in various hues.
Aesthetic calm
Valery Rostovsky does not look for reality in his vision. He does not want to give an analysis, but an experience of what he feels and sees in the moment.
Landscapes such as Big Tree, Blossom, "On the Ocean Shore and Morning are enchanting works. Flora and Midday are portraits that exhibit an aesthetic calm.
The Rostovskys are showcasing their art in Dubai for the first time. While the father paints landscapes in watercolour on paper the two sons paint landscapes and still life with oil on canvas.
The compositions mostly revolve around objects that bring a sense of stability and strength while generating a state of peace and balance.
The canvas is dissected along clear horizontal and vertical planes. "My paintings are the result of not what I have seen, but the effect triggered by the mere sight. The experience sparked by the sight transfigures into a vision and then into a miracle." Valery Rostovsky observed.
