World-renowned dancer and choreographer Michael Flatley is set to come to Dubai to this weekend — though whether or not he will take the stage is a mystery that will keep his fans on their toes.

Flatley confirmed through a statement that he will be working with the troupe of his show, Lord of the Dance, when they are in the city. They will perform for two nights, with one show on March 27 and two shows on March 28 at the Arena Hall of the Dubai World Trade Centre.

“I am so happy to be coming to Dubai and bringing our show to you. I will be working with our dancers but hope to meet with our audiences who have been so loyal to us,” he said.

Flatley was absent from the Abu Dhabi shows in 2010. They occurred shortly before he re-joined the Lord of the Dance troupe for their European shows.

“We’re happy that he’s going to be seeing his fans, because there are a lot of them,” a spokesman for LOTD promoters M4 Events told tabloid! “At the end of the day, his artistry is in the show, anyway, whether he’s here or not. The show in itself is incredible, and the icing on the cake is that he’s here, and that there is a possibility that he might take the stage.”

Flatley’s management added that “with a little bit of luck”, audiences might have the rare chance to get to see the Irishman in all his glory on stage.

Prior to confirmation that he will be coming to Dubai, 55-year-old Flatley told tabloid! in an email interview that he would be a dancer for as long as he is able to dance, but that “there are forces that ask other questions”.

“Sometimes I just cannot keep away from it!” he wrote of the stage. “I have been in Dubai with my family and we love it. Dubai has become one of the most visited places in the world and for good reason.”

The UAE shows will bring the world tour for the current production of Lord of the Dance to a close.
