UK rapper Wiley has been announced as the first of two special guests who will join duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis at their Abu Dhabi show on April 25 at du Arena. Though Wiley has played in Dubai before, his Yas Island appearance will be his debut in the capital city.

“It’s going to be massive. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have come on the scene and they’re making a big impact. We share the same ideas about creating different sounds but remaining true to our underground roots so I expect it’s going to be a special show,” Wiley said in a statement.

The 35-year-old is regarded as a pioneer of the underground music scene in the UK, and specifically the early noughties grime scene. A crossover artist, Wiley brought grime — a product of pirated radio — to the world of mainstream, shooting up to the top of the UK charts.

“The UAE crowds know their music and especially their rap so I’m looking forward to giving them what they want,” the MC said.

Further information on the second guest is to be announced within the coming weeks, said organisers.
