Being a tween star’s girlfriend should come with a warning. That or black-belt karate training and/or a particularly thick skin.
The abuse from online stalkers can sometimes be too much to handle which is probably the reason One Direction’s Zayn Malik kept his cards close to his chest when it came to his girlfriend Perrie Edwards.
Last week marked a change for the smitten teenager though as he publicly confessed his love when wishing his beau happy birthday via twitter.

One Direction
Kicking things off with the lads from the band which appears to have taken over the world, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payn are top of many a young girl’s top 10 ideal boyfriend lists.
Malik, 19, as we now know, is off the cards. To profess his love for his former X Factor girlfriend, Perrie Edwards, 19, he took to Twitter and made it official. Edwards, of girl group Little Mix, celebrated her earlier this month. In addition to sending out a happy birthday wish, Malik shocked fans on Twitter by throwing “love” into his message: “A very special happy birthday to my baby perrie ! :D x mwah love you x,”.
Styles, 18 - the cougar-magnet – looks to be taking a break and if his bandmates are correct he’ll be a “lonely old man” if he’s not careful. Bandmate Payn revealed it was Styles he has to thank for helping him get together with his girlfriend Danielle Peazer, and even Tomlinson for hooking him up with Eleanor Calder. But Styles - who has had a number of romances in the past year - can’t find a girlfriend. Talking to radio station i93, Payn said: “This has never been told before, but when I actually got with my girlfriend Harry was the boy that set us up. Also, Louis and Eleanor as well, was also Harry. Harry’s the magic match-up man. He’s like Hitch, he can do it for everyone else… he’s a lonely old man.” Styles ended his relationship with Xtra Factor presenter Caroline Flack after just a few months. She was 15 years his senior. He’s also been linked with other television and radio presenters since.
Danielle Peazer is Payne’s current girlfriend. Peazer has stayed home while the band is away, looking after the home she shares with her 18-year-old boyfriend as she’s got work to do - dancing for the likes of JLS, Jessie J and Leona Lewis. She met Payn while performing on the X Factor.
Eleanor Calder is Tomlinson’s current girlfriend and has been spending time on the road with him while the lads have been on tour while Ali McGinley is Nial Horan’s rumoured current girlfriend.
The Jonas Brothers
Nick, Joe, and their older brother Kevin all wear purity rings but it doesn’t stop them in the dating stakes.
Kevin Jonas married Danielle Deleasa, a former hairdresser, at Oheka Castle on December 19, 2009, with his brothers Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas as his best men.
Joe is a renowned ladies man and has had a plethora of beauties by his side over the past few years. He most recently dated Twilight starlet Ashley Greene, but has also romanced Camilla Belle, Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato.
Nick has a list which includes Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and most recently Delta Goodrem, although the pair reportedly spilt earlier this year. He’s been spotted with a new mystery girl in NYC. However the remaining Jonas boys pose a realistic outlook and say they are looking for non-celeb girls.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about the fans - even in the dating stakes. We have already dated fans or girls that are not celebrities,” they collectively wrote on their official blog. “In fact, we really like to believe that the girl we will spend our lives with will be our biggest ‘fan.” Bonus.
Justin Bieber
You’d have to be living under a rock to not know Justin Bieber is dating Selena Gomez. The 18-year-old pop star and his leggy beauty have been dating for more than a year and a half. Maybe it’s lasting as the Biebster makes the extra effort to do “special things” for his girlfriend Selena Gomez. “I mean, it’s just, like, would you send someone else to go pick up your girlfriend from the airport? Do you think she would be happy with that?,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “’Oh, yeah, I’m just gonna send a driver, he’s gonna come get you.... I haven’t seen you in about three weeks, it’s all good, I’m gonna send a driver.’ No. I mean, I think that would be kind of rude, you know? I like to take the time and do special things, and I think that’s what, you know, girls like - to have that sense of security.”

Big Time Rush
When we spoke to the boys in June this is what they had to say.
Kendall Schmidt, 21: “I’m single. I have been single for a while – at least a year. And I think I can speak for Logan, I think he is single too, I’m pretty sure. Carlos is dating his girlfriend Samantha and James is dating his girlfriend Sage. We’re just the two single guys in the band.”
Logan Henderson, 22: “It’s hard to have a relationship on the road. It really is. It’s not a cool to tell girls ‘I’ll be gone for the next four months’. But you know it’s fun to be single right now. I get to go to places, make friends everywhere I go. So I’m enjoying single life right now.”
The Wanted
According to Nathan Sykes, 19, just last month he and Jay McGuiness, 22, were the only available option in this boy band.
“Me and Jay are the only single ones at the moment,” he told a reporter. “It’s a bit of a nightmare really because we can’t really sort it out – once you meet people you kind of feel a bit odd, you can’t just meet somebody then the week after be like ‘yeah – I’m doing a gig in Cheshire, do you want me to fly you over?’ It’s hard to get into a relationship.
But Max George, 23, is in hot water. Having made it back to the arms of his girlfriend Michelle Keegan, star of the Brit series Coronation Street, he was snapped last week locking lips with a mysterious blonde in Newcastle, UK. And now it looks like the couple is officially ‘off’ again.
The couple has spent most of this year apart and even confirmed they had called off a short-lived engagement but Keegan insisted the pair were back together just last month. Shopping in London’s West End and holiday snaps show the couple are loved up once again. Keegan and George started dating in December 2010 when they met backstage at the Key 103 Jingle Ball in Manchester.
This week an ex girlfriend of the star also came forward saying he was still having a “sexting relationship” with her. The blonde, who is said to have dated Geroge for three years between 2007 and November 2010, told The Sun the couple shared explicit messages from February to May 2011, while he was with Michelle.
Tom Parker, 23, is having a lot of fun with his girlfriend Kelsey Hardwick who were recently snapped leaving a London club a little worse for wear, Parker even protecting her modesty at times. What a gent.
Siva Kaneswaran, 23, and his girlfriend Nareesha were spotted strolling hand-in-hand on a beach in Barbados.
