Sun, sand and sublime sounds are all the makings of a perfect day spent outdoors – and on February 7, between 2pm and 3am, Nasimi Beach’s opening party will provide exactly that. Grab your dancing shoes as German electronic DJ Timo Maas – along with Daylomar, Haidz, Danilo Dumonte, Rishi and Miss P.M. – is set to shake things up as part of Plus Minus Sessions.

Maas, who recently completed a 10 year residency at Ibiza’s DC10 club, has been a professional behind the turntables since 1995 in Bristol, UK. He released his latest record, Lifers, just last year with funky guest features from U.N.K.L.E’s James Lavelle, Katie Cruel, Placebo’s Brian Molko and Mikill Pane, keeping his sound fresh and surprising from track to track.

The Bückeburg-native spoke to tabloid! about his hottest tracks, collaborating with Italian DJ Santos and the most difficult part of working with other artists.

You’re returning to Dubai once more. What do you like about performing here?

The environment is quiet nice and I like the international open-minded crowds!

How would you describe your style behind the turntables?

Deep, trippy electronic.

How do you go about discovering new music?

I am more or less constantly listening to music, new and also old... I love music!

What are the hottest tracks on your set right now?

Several remixes off my album, Lifer, all stuff by Eric Volta and My Favourite Robots and, most importantly, all stuff by my partner, Santos – he is on a real amazing flow right now with his productions.

You’ve been a resident DJ in Ibiza with DC10 for ten years now. How does it feel?

Very good, still the coolest club on earth!

How was it like working with different artists for your latest album, like Brian Molko of Placebo on the song First Day?

Let’s say, the timing is a bit difficult, but all over it has been great fun... combining talents from different genres always is an adventure and I am very happy about the results.

Your music tends to cross genres from song to song. Is that something purposeful?

Absolutely, why should you limit yourself to one particular genre?

Do you prefer to work with others, or do you like to create alone?

I always worked with someone else... I am not the technical genius, Santos is [a technical genius] since over 5 years now, and I love to work and develop ideas with him.

The DJing scene is all about big collaborations these days. What’s your dream collaboration?

Was always and will be always David Bowie.

Are you working on new material at the moment?

Yes, I am…more info very soon via social media!
