Somebody call 911 – Sean Kingston is coming to town.

But if reggae isn’t your thing and you’d prefer some alternative rock then Dubai is still the place to be as Gulf News can also exclusively confirm Snow Patrol will perform at Chi @ The Lodge next month.

February is shaping up to be the month of music with Kingston booked for a stage at Dubai Festival City in mid February (date will be confirmed in the next few days) and Snow Patrol at the Dubai nightspot on February 5. Both are Dubai Shopping Festival events and the gigs are expected to attract in excess of 19,000 between them.

Other gigs in February include Nickelback and Status Quo on February 5 and 6 respectively.

Reggae-fusion singer and rapper Sean Kingston says he is looking forward to coming to Dubai for the first time, according to Dubai-based organizers Vivid Visions.

Expected to attract a capacity crowd of 15,000 Vivid partner Jason Alexander said: “We expect Sean to hit the stage around 9pm but doors will open at 7pm to allow the atmosphere to build. We will have some great DJs to get things warmed up.”

Kingston, famous for songs including Fire Burning, Why U Wanna Go and Beautiful Girls, was a hit last year when he played a sell-out gig at Lebanon’s Sky Bar.

With just space for 3,500 people to see them live at Chi, Snow Patrol tickets will likely sell fast. Ticket prices will be announced in the next few days and organizers say they hope to get them on sale by the end of the week.

Tickets for Sean Kingston, priced Dh175 for regular, Dh265 for silver and Dh495 for gold (front pit standing), are also expected to go on sale in the next few days.
