Dubai: Filipina music diva Jessa Zaragoza is reviving her career with a new twist: Starring in a series on Philippine TV network ABS-CBN.

Zaragoza told tabloid! on Thursday that she will be appearing alongside pop princess Sarah Geronimo in a musical drama and comedy show called Idol. It is scheduled to be aired in September and will be available on TFC (The Filipino Channel), she said.

"It’s going to be really fun," she said, adding that most of the cast are singers and that the show has some similarities to Glee, the hit US musical comedy-drama television series.

The cast include Zsa Zsa Padilla, Robert Sena, Agot Isidro, and hearththrobs Sam Milby and Coco Martin. Yes, the hot Coco. "Coco can sing," Zaragoza says of her co-star. "He's a very good actor, but I feel he's kind of shy. On set, he's kind of quiet. Or maybe because we're not yet close... But everything is good. We're having fun during taping," she said.

Zaragoza is in Dubai to promote her latest album Jessa Sings the Great Musical Icons and will be performing a three-night musical residency at Rocky's Café, Regent Palace Hotel, starting tonight.

She promises to perform some of her hit songs and her favourite songs from her latest album, her first after six years. "This is my first time to have an English album, but there is one Tagalog song here, Bakit Ako Mahihiya by Didith Reyes," she said.

Zaragoza also promises to give a different performance for each of her mini-concerts in Dubai. Will we see her shake her hips to belly dancing, too? "Oh yes!" she says, grinning.
