Long-gone are the days when Madge produced pop songs that stood the test of time, so maybe we'll just call this one a collection of random, almost-pop, decent dance and beyond-their-prime ballads that we hope sound better when Madonna brings them to Yas. Girl Gone Wild is a great start, along with Gang Bang, and the triple-whammy of the Benny Benassi-produced, I'm Addicted. But then things go rather meh, with Gimme All Your Luvin' a Hey Mickey retread too far.

Roses, The Cranberries

Roses has divided the critics in a Marmite kind of way, but then, The Cranberries have always been a band you loved or hated (and even if you hated, you'd have to admit that My So Called Life would have been poorer without Dolores on the soundtrack). This, their fifth album, throws up some winners in Waiting In Walthamstow and So Good, but Schizophrenic Playboy falls into ‘annoying' category. For big fans only.
