He's considered one of the most important dance music figures of the early '90s, bringing dance tunes to a mainstream audience, and now he's coming to Dubai.

It's been a long time coming but American DJ, singer-songwriter and musician Moby will play at the Dubai World Trade Centre on July 4.

Porcelain, Natural Blues and Why Does My Heart feel So Bad? are certain to feature in the set line-up, as well as ambient electronic tunes from his more recent albums Last Night and Wait for Me and latest offering Destroyed.

Dubai based concert promoters The Talent Brokers confirmed the 45-year-old will bring a full live band for the Destroyed World Tour.

Making music since the age of nine, Richard Meville Hall started out playing classical guitar before taking to the decks after leaving college.

He released his first single, Go, back in 1991, which was listed as one of Rolling Stone's Best Records of All Time.

His records have sold more than 20,000,000 copies worldwide, but as if that wasn't enough has also produced and remixed for other artists, including David Bowie, Metallica, The Beastie Boys, Public Enemy and many more.

His latest single, The Day, releases in May and it is expected to be played in Dubai.

"The Day was written in a hotel room in Spain at dawn when I hadn't slept," he has said. "It was a beautiful hotel room, a beautiful perfect hotel room and it was six or seven in the morning. I wrote it on an acoustic guitar and recorded it on my phone, brought it home and re-recorded it with old broken down electronics that I have in my studio."

Tickets, priced Dh 200 and Dh 350 for VIP seated, will go on sale on April 17 from all the usual outlets.
