Dubai: Prepare for a night of classical entertainment and chilling vocal performances. Renowned Lebanese soprano Majida Al Roumi will take the stage at Dubai World Trade Centre on February 8 to close out the inaugural Dubai Classics music festival.

“Given the remarkable popularity of Majida Al Roumi as an iconic singer in the Arab world, we cannot express how excited we are to host her on the final night of Dubai Classics,” said Issam Kazim, Director of DXB Live, the festival organisers.

Al Roumi first hit the scene in 1974, wowing audiences by winning the top prize of talent show Studio Al Fann at only 16 years of age. Since then, her career has spanned four decades. Her latest album, Ghazal, released in 2012 after a six-year wait, received positive reviews and saw the singer writing most of her own material for the first time, as well as experimenting with East-meets-West melodies. The 57-year-old was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador in 2001.

Al Roumi’s performance at Shaikh Rashid Hall will follow two evening shows led by English lyric soprano Sarah Brightman, who is set to perform on February 6 and 7.

“By hosting two of the strongest voices in the world, DWTC is offering audiences in Dubai a world class weekend of classic soprano talent with contemporary flair, and we expect to see fans travel from across the country and region for this unique experience,” said Kazim.
