A deceiving hush surrounded Hour Choice at Mall of the Emirates this afternoon, minutes before the anticipated arrival of R&B queen Kelly Rowland.
Stepping onto the scene fashionably late in a sleek floral jumpsuit, black shades and heels to match, the Destiny’s Child singer was swarmed by admirers as soon as she approached. A round of eager cheers followed moments later when Virgin Radio DJ Kris Fade announced, “Kelly Rowland is here!”
Despite occasional discomfort on Rowland’s face — a given, considering the rushed, mob-like nature that these meet and greets tend to take on — she was her sweet-spoken, down-to-earth self as she conducted interviews, posed for photo after photo with staff members, and signed autographed postcards for her adoring fans — telling one special girl she was “so pretty.”
“It was so much love! I was very happy,” Rowland told tabloid! of the reception she received. “I’m happy to be in Dubai, as well. I’ve been here a minute. It’s always good when you come somewhere so far away from home and you feel loved.”
The Grammy-winning touring performer, TW Steel ambassador, and X Factor judge had to take time out of her busy schedule to be in the emirate so she could perform at the 2013 Dubai Airshow Gala Dinner on Tuesday night. The upcoming event will be a private, invite-only one, which made today’s chance to meet her all the more special.
