He’s the world’s No 1 teen dreamboat with a loyal (read screaming and swooning) fanbase, so it’s only natural that Justin Bieber’s debut concert in the Middle East on May 4 at the Dubai Sevens Stadium comes with a string of superlatives.
“This could be the biggest concert… Justin Bieber was the most requested artist that I have come across in 12 years. He has the most amazing, loyal fan base,” said Thomas Ovesen, COO of the concert organiser DONE Events. Bieber will jet into the UAE as part of his Believe world tour.
As of now, the stage is being set to welcome more than 25,000 fans from across the globe, and the capacity of the venue could go up, depending on demand, said Ovesen.
Plans are also underway to make the pricing affordable to families, he added. The tickets will go on sale at 9am on September 23, with pre-sale tickets available on justinbieberdubai.com.
“We know that there will be fans so young that their mum and dad may come along. So we will make sure that the entry-level pricing is decided keeping that in mind. There will be different ticket rates and entry points so that families can buy more than one ticket,” said Ovesen.
Care is also being taken to make the night teenage-friendly.
“When we have something like a Bieber concert, our offers will target a particular audience. Think hamburgers and hot-dogs,” said Ovesen.
The Canadian pop star, who turned 18 recently, was discovered on YouTube in 2008.
Billed as Bieber’s biggest show ever, the Believe tour lands in the UAE after gigs across the US, Europe and Canada.
In a recognition of the way that he rose to fame, the YouTube sensation recently held web auditions to choose a dancer to join him on the road.
Apart from sending girls into shrieking raptures, the show is expected to be a lot of fun. Speaking to E!, show director Jon Chu dubbed the concert an “immersive experience.”
“Every time I go too serious, it becomes boring. It’s like, ‘We’ve seen that before.’ So Justin’s at a point where you want the biggest, funnest adventure you can go on,” said Chu.
Meanwhile, as soon as the news of Bieber’s concert in Dubai broke out, the local twitterverse went wild.
“OMG, Is this for real” and “When Justin comes to Dubai ...It’s hell in May. Shirtless pictures babe ;)” were some of the tweets.
For many, Bieber’s concert will be their first concert. As Mohammad Mustafa, 10, in Dubai says: “It’s going to be a big night. He’s like my all-time role model,” said Mustafa.
