Following in the footsteps of pop stars Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor, singer-songwriter John Legend confirmed that he wrote a song with One Direction’s Harry Styles.
Legend, speaking to tabloid! over the phone ahead of his Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival performance on February 27, said that he and Styles worked together on a tune titled I Wasn’t Ready.
“We wrote [the] song together several months ago, but that’s all I know — I don’t know if the song is going to come out or what,” he said.
So how did the collaboration come about?
“He just met my manager, and my manager said, ‘You guys should work together.’ We wrote together — he was really great. He’s talented, and he’s a good writer,” he added.
As for the meaning behind the tune, Legend preferred to leave the ball in Styles’s court. “I think if it comes out, you can let Harry talk about what it’s about,” he said.
Styles is no stranger to collaborations with fellow chart-topping artistes. In August, his ballad Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart was released on Grande’s album, My Everything. He recently also worked with All About That Bass singer Trainor on a song titled Someday Maybe, which hasn’t released yet.
