Rock On (OST)
Various Artistes
Composers Shankar-Ehsan-Loy and lyricist Javed Akhtar created some memorable hits in Farhan Akhtar's films Dil Chahta Hai, Lakshya and Don. But for Rock On, the famous four disappoint.
Going with the theme of the movie's title, the music includes plenty of booming electric guitar riffs and racy drumbeats to present the western rock music trend in Bollywood today. By rendering as many as five songs himself, Farhan Akhtar gives full vent to his musical ambitions.
His first effort, Socha Hai, is catchy but the novelty soon wears off and his amateur voice fails to engage in the more-or-less similar-sounding songs Picchle Saat Dinon Mein, Rock On and Sinbad The Sailor. Suraj Jagan's hard rock number Zehreelay turns out to be too noisy.
Caralisa Monteiro's soft ballad Phir Dekhiye and Dominique Cerejo's moody number Yeh Tumhari Meri Baaten are two of the better songs. Overall, this album is a letdown from such a celebrated creative team.
