Dubai: Anyone who’s been to a Gary Valenciano concert will understand why the Filipino artist is dubbed “Mr. Pure Energy”. Valenciano’s show at the Dubai Tennis Stadium on Friday night was no exception.

Performing many of his popular upbeat tunes and his signature dance moves almost non-stop in the show that stretched for a little over two hours, Valenciano showcased the showmanship that has made him one of the most enduring figures in the Philippine entertainment industry. The performer kicked off the concert with the infectious “Sa Yahweh!” to warm up the crowd. He was later joined by his son Gabriel and the concert’s energy level simply went through the roof when the father-and-son tandem performed a feisty dance routine while belting his old-time hits.

Gabriel and his older brother Paolo were Valenciano’s guest performance in the concert.

Valenciano also sang a few of his timeless balads, including classic hits such as “Hang On” from his first album in 1983 as well as a well-applauded medley of popular soap opera theme songs.

The 47-year-old UNICEF Ambassador closed out the concert with two of his most famous songs “Shout For Joy” and “Take Me Out Of The Dark”, but not before promising to be back in Dubai very soon.
