This summer, the boys of Boyzone will bring their beats to the UAE.

The ‘90s Irish pop act is set to play the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium on May 22. The perceived “bad boy” of the group, Shane Lynch, alluded to the UAE show in an interview with tabloid! in February.

“We would love to come to Dubai,” he said. “It could be soon!”

He shared what it was like to be 20 years deep into their careers – the boys celebrated their milestone anniversary in 2013 – and said he was relieved the days of BZ hysteria have slowed down. He’s more than happy to watch younger bands such as One Direction receive the bulk of the attention today.

“We are so lucky to have the opportunity to still be doing this. It was so busy and crazy in the early years of Boyzone that we couldn’t stop for a moment to appreciate anything we had achieved,” he said.

The boys went on an eight year hiatus in 2000 and reunited a year before band member Stephen Gately died. Lynch said it was a tough decision to continue on as a four-piece band, but that it’s a decision he was happy with in the end.

“Coming back together after our break between meant that we could really appreciate everything – especially performing live – and enjoy it all properly.”
