Aspiring singers in the UAE, listen up. Dileesa Hunter, the American gospel singer and vocal coach, is coming to Dubai to conduct a day-long workshop called ‘Sing Smart Not Hard’ on December 6 at the Movenpick Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel. The founder of the American Singing Studios founder will head to Abu Dhabi the next day, December 7, for a similar but shorter workshop at the Salwa Zeidan Gallery on Saadiyat Island.
Hunter will teach participants how to improve their vocal range, build vocal confidence, stage presence, master high notes and vocal runs, and learn breathing and other techniques to help optimise their performance.
The session, from 10am to 5pm, will include theory and group exercises to help develop good singing habits. A special segment will also be dedicated to stage fright and how to deal with hurdles associated with live performances and public appearances.
“Dileesa’s expertise and calibre is not available in the UAE and I am confident she will help a lot of singers here,” says Rouba, Dubai-based soul and jazz singer who’s helping organise the event, “We have been receiving very positive feedback from singers in the UAE who are keen to get professional guidance and direction on their performance. Dileesa’s the woman for the task.”
