Perhaps one of Sandance’s more interesting choices: Actor Idris Elba has been booked to perform at the last gig of the series on May 10.
Famous for his acting roles as detective Luther in the award-winning BBC TV series of the same name and drug dealer Stringer Bell in HBO series ‘The Wire’, Elba is now set to play Nelson Mandela in a new movie and has even been rumoured as the first black James Bond.
That said, the Londoner should not be written off as a celebrity DJ, having co-produced and performed on Jay Z’s 2007 album American Gangster as well as boasting a grounding as a DJ before taking stage and screen.
Sandance organisers have also added Space Ibiza resident Jonathan Ulysses to the line-up which already includes Nightmares on Wax live at sunset, Keane, Florence And The Machine, Groove Armada and resident Dubai DJs David Craig and Smokingroove.
