A political film starring Bollywood stars Abhay Deol, Emraan Hashmi, Kalki Koechlin and Prosenjit Chatterjee will premiere at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in Singapore on June 7, organisers have announced.
Shanghai, directed by Dibakar Banerjee (Khosla Ka Ghosla, Love Sex Aur Dhokha) is scheduled to be released in the UAE on the same day.
A number of high-profile films including Lagaan, Aankhen, Parineeta and Yuva have premiered at the IIFA Awards over the years.
"The concept of Shanghai appealed to me and I am truly looking forward to the release of the film. IIFA's journey over the last 12 years has opened many doors for the Indian film industry and we feel fortunate that our film will enter that elite list," Hashmi said in a release.
Organisers also released the nominations list for this year's awards on Friday, with two of last year's biggest hits, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and The Dirty Picture, leading the charge with 14 and 13 nods respectively.
Held in a different location every year, the awards this year will return to Singapore for three days in what promises to be a weekend of colour and glamour as some of India's biggest stars make a beeline for the island nation.
