Dubai: While the rest of the world finds out the juicy details tomorrow - Does Carrie marry Big? Does Charlotte have a baby?
Can Miranda survive in Brooklyn? How many men does Samantha sleep with this time? Here in the UAE, fans of Sex and the City will have to wait.
For how long it's unclear. And the name of the movie is even more uncertain.
Fans had hoped Sex and the City would open today in the UAE, a day ahead of its general release in the US, where films come out on a Friday.
That was the case with last week's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which opened a day ahead of much of rest of the world.
But for now, the film's local distributors say, the release date is unknown. Gulf Film and Shooting Stars, the distributors of the film in the UAE, say it's not a hold-up in the censor's office - because prints of the film have not even arrived in the country.
‘It will be released'
"Sometimes, the prints are not available, because it's such a big movie,'' says Simon Khoury, assistant marketing manager at Gulf Film, referring to the reels of 35mm film that are still used in cinemas here.
"It will be released. I just don't have a date for when the prints will arrive.'' A source at Shooting Stars, who has already seen clips of the film and says it's "not bad'', said he expects to see the prints "in the next week or so''.
Once the reels and there are eight of them land in the UAE, they have to go the censor's office, where they are classified.
That only takes a day, says Khoury, and he doesn't expect any issues. "I don't think [the movie] will be a problem. But we don't interfere with the process.'' The film classification office was unavailable for comment.
But the title might be a problem. It's unlikely that billboards promoting the film with the word "SEX'' in four-foot letters - as have been used over in the UK and US - will be welcomed in the UAE. The solution, says Khoury, will be a name change.
"Maybe the censors will let us pick something, maybe they will pick something. But I don't think they will put ‘Sex' in the name.''
I didn't think I would pass 30: Davis
Actress Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte in Sex And The City, feared she would die before she turned 30 because she was an alcoholic. Thesun.co.uk reports the 43-year-old revealed her family has a history of alcoholism and she gave up drinking after spending some time in rehab when she was 22. She said: "I really didn't think I would pass 30. I drank a lot when I was a teenager. I had a fatalistic viewpoint.''
Passion in the Big Apple
It was their night to shine - and they did. The Sex and the City girls always said the show's fifth lady was New York City, and for the movie's Radio City Music Hall premiere on Tuesday night, the girls took their cues from the art deco architecture of the Empire State's biggest city.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall all shine in metallics, as did new co-star Jennifer Hudson, a living Oscar statuette in a gold dress. Cynthia Nixon, in sleek white, was the odd one out.
