Sacha Baron Cohen has become known for his dedication to his comic creations and the Oscars wasn’t immune to the British comedian turning up dressed as his latest character, the dictator of the fictional country the “Mighty Nation of Wadiya”, General Aladeen, to promote his upcoming film The Dictator, accompanied by two female bodyguards.

The Borat comedian arrived in character and told E! host Ryan Seacrest that he was carrying the ashes of the late North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il, and that it was the Dear Leader’s dying wish “to be sprinkled over the red carpet and over Halle Berry's chest,” before tipping the urn and covering Seacrest in the ashes, telling him, “Now when people ask you who you’re wearing you can say Kim Jong-Il.”

The host was clearly shocked by his red carpet altercation, but as security stepped in he managed to switch on his TV charm, turning to the camera saying, “Anything can happen [on live TV] and it most certainly did… all over my lapel.”

But Cohen’s stunt went down well with the assorting celebrities, with Tina Fey and Seth Rogen spotted cracking up at his antics.
