The plot Having already stirred up controversy thanks to accusations that Rockstar has lifted its plot straight from the 2005 Joaquin Phoenix-starring Johnny Cash biopic, Walk The Line - which netted Reese Witherspoon a Best Actress Oscar - lead star Ranbir Kapoor has been forced to defend his movie insisting, "By no stretch of the imagination does it get influenced from the West!"

Well, that's cleared that up then.

The movie follows the rock'n'roll hopes of Janardan (Ranbir Kapoor), who is raised in a comfortable middle-class area of Delhi, but yearns to get down and dirty and live the life of an international rock star - an idea not conducive with the lifestyles of his peers, who ridicule what they see as Janardan's pipe dreams. Whilst attempting to live out his Jim Morrison-esque fantasies, Janardan reaches the conclusion that all rock star's lives have a few things in common - tragedy, heartache and drama. There's one problem, though; his life is about as tumultuous as a cup of tea with Betty White.

On a mission to invite more craziness into his life, he sets out to win the heart of the college campus goddess, Heer (Fakhri), whose very unavailability, beauty and arrogance ensures Janardan doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning her - but means he does stand the chance of having his heart stomped on, thus achieving a semblence of tragedy. Narrated by journalist Sheena (Hydari), this is a great comedy-drama, which also gives cinema-goers the chance to catch the late, great Shammi Kapoor in his final role.
