Hit Dubai film City of Life will be shown at a mini festival in New York this month, alongside 18 other films by Arab filmmakers supported by the Dubai International Film Festival (Diff).

The works, including feature films and shorts, will screen at the Film Society of Lincoln Centre (FSLC) in New York from August 24-29. The screenings are the result of a partnership between FSLC and Diff, although details of what this will mean for the festival in the UAE, which runs from December 9-16, were not announced.

The filmmakers behind the movies received assistance from Diff’s various financial and trade supports, in co-production, post-production, trade and distribution support and the Dubai Film Market, an industry platform.

Directors Narjiss Nejjar (The Rif Lover), Ali Mustafa (City Of Life), Yahya Al Abdullah (The Last Friday) and Susan Yousuf (Habibi) will attend the showcase in New York.

“One of the Festival’s core aims is to enrich professional experiences in the region, while also raising the profile of regional works on the world stage. Year on year, we are thrilled to see Diff-supported films and filmmakers at world-class film events,” said Diff Chairman Abdul Hamid Juma. “We hope that the films selected for the FSLC will give audiences abroad the opportunity to experience the vibrancy and multi-faceted nature of Middle Eastern cinema.”
