While Bollywood’s hit thriller Race was known for its twists and convoluted plots, its sequel will outdo the original, promised its stellar cast. Stars John Abraham, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor and Ameesha Patel vouched for their film’s improved quality this Wednesday in Dubai as they jetted into town for day-long promotions.

“Race 2 is more racier, steamier and sexier. You will never know what you are getting into and what plots lie ahead. There’s sexier location and of course sexier women,” said Patel at a press conference held at the MEydan IMAX Theatre.
Padukone, who features in the sequel as the beautiful, mysterious Elena, echoed her declarations with a succinct “ditto”.
The 2008 film was laden with rich young men chasing beautiful, deceitful women who cheat for a living. But director duo Abbas-Mastan defended their brand of cinema, labelling it entertaining.
“It’s all a part of the script which we select. People like to be glued to their seats and it makes them happy,” said Abbas. Though a part of the original Race gang -- including Kapoor and Ali Khan -- have been retained, a set of new faces has been added for the sequel.
“I have seen the film. I am optimistic about it. I speak on behalf of others: everyone has done a fabulous job. I have seen the film and I am happy,” said Abraham. Though the producers refused to talk numbers, they called the film a “big budget” venture, to which Ali Khan interjected, “What they mean is that we know what the budget is but we don’t know what we told our income tax guys.”
