Could Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, or Jennifer Lawrence be coming to Dubai? They very well might be.

These big-name Hollywood stars, alongside the talented likes of Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, Louis CK and cinema giant Robert De Niro, are set to dazzle onscreen at the Dubai International Film Festival (Diff) this year as the all-star cast of closing gala film American Hustle.

The latest effort from BAFTA-winning director David O. Russell, who was nominated for the Oscar award this year for Silver Linings Playbook, this will be American Hustle’s ffirst festival screening. Russell is also known for buzz-generating and intense films such as Three Kings, The Fighter and of course the critically-acclaimed feature Silver Linings Playbook, which screened at the Doha International Film Festival last year. Co-stars Cooper and Lawrence were a no show on the red carpet then, with only De Niro making an appearance.

Set in the late 70s, American Hustle follows the story of a con man, Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who works alongside sly partner in crime and lover, Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams), for an off-the-rails FBI agent, Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). Carmen Polito (Jeremy Renner) is the unstable New Jersey political operator who’s caught beneath both worlds, while Irving’s wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) is the unpredictable force who could cause their whole world to unravel.

“We are thrilled to bring David O. Russell’s follow-up to his Oscar winning films The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook to DIFF audiences this year,” the festival’s artistic director, Masoud Amr Allah Al Ali, said. “With one of the most exciting filmmakers working today at the helm, an outstanding cast and compelling story, this is a film that is set to blow audiences away and end the 10th DIFF on a high note.”

Diff, on its tenth year, will run from December 6 to 14 at the Madinat Jumeirah.
