After Salman Khan’s comic cop act in Dabangg, Aamir Khan is the latest to put on a khaki uniform — ripped body, moustache, grim expression and all. In his latest thriller Talaash (translated as The Hunt), Khan plays a police inspector who is on a mission to solve a high-profile murder case involving a famous actor.

His investigations lead him to Rosie, a prostitute played by Kareena Kapoor. Actress Rani Mukherjee also reunites with Khan on the big screen after their 2005 film Mangal Pandey: The Rising outing. In this thriller, she plays his sari-clad wife who is not too happy about her secretive husband’s obsession with solving the murder case.
Talaash is Khan’s first major release since his 2010 reclusive artist act in Dhobi Ghat. But his two-year sabbatical from the big screen hasn’t gone to waste. Khan won his fans over with his debut TV show Satyamev Jayate, a non-fiction series dealing with burning social issues.
Khan, known as Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist, put his all — and a couple of years — into his latest film. According to fitness trainer Mickey Mehta, Khan enlisted him as a swimming coach for an underwater scene.
“He wanted that underwater scene in Talaash to be perfect. He didn’t know how to swim but he was such a good student…We swam at odd hours, such as 2am, 5.30am — but he never missed a class,” said Mehta in an interview with tabloid!
Talaash, also co-produced by Khan, releases in the UAE on November 29. Don’t be surprised if Talaash leads him to Dubai to hunt down his fans in this region.
