Jango Fett makes his living as a bounty hunter travelling throughout the galaxy to capture or kill his targets. During the final years of the Republic, Jango was considered the best bounty hunter in the galaxy. But Jango has another claim to fame: His body was used as the mould for the clones created to serve the Empire.

Fett, a human, was born into the world of Concord Dawn, and was adopted by the Mandalorians following the death of his parents. These legendary warriors gave him his unique armour, a Mandalorian speciality which made him invulnerable to many weapons.

Fett was hired by Count Dooku (who disguised his real identity, Sith Lord Tyranus) to be cloned. Dooku was creating a secret army. The resulting Fett copies were used as genetic templates to create the legendary stormtroopers, who are clothed in distinctive white armour.

From that point on, Fett became Count Dooku's bodyguard. In exchange for his service, Fett asked for only one thing: A pure
clone of himself, without any modifications. He then brought up this clone as his own "son" and taught him the ways of bounty hunting. The child would grow up to be Boba Fett, another fearsome bounty hunter, who roamed the galaxy during the time of the Empire.

When Obi-Wan Kenobi learns of the clone army, he confronts Fett but is captured and sentenced to death. A number of Jedis conceal themselves inside the arena where Obi-Wan is about to be executed, and start a battle to free him. It is during the ensuing fight that Jango dies, decapitated by Mace Windu.

Upon finding his father's head, the young Boba declares war against the Jedi Order.

For many collectors of Star Wars merchandise, objects relating to the bounty hunter are among the most sought-after. His ship, Slave I, in particular, is one of the more desired objects. The special characteristic of this ship is that it had a mechanism to avoid detection, crucial for any fugitive or bounty hunter.
