Dubai: As a nod to their contribution to Indian cinema, Bollywood actress Zohra Sehgal and director Ramesh Sippy will be honoured with an award next month at the International Indian Film Academy Awards in Singapore.

The special award for Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema will be presented during the three-day IIFA weekend.
"To be recognised on an international platform is an honour," said Sippy in a statement.

The Sholay hitmaker entered Bollywood at the age of nine as a child artist and went on to direct several blockbusters, including Hema Malini-starrer Seeta Aur Geeta and the epic romance Saagar.

"I would like to thank IIFA for giving me this wonderful mark of appreciation. I am truly honoured that my work has been recognised," he said.

Meanwhile, acclaimed actress and stage personality Zohra Seghal, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday this year, will also be feted. Often referred to as the grand old lady of Indian cinema, she will receive the special award for her large body of work.

In another separate development on the IIFA front, actor-director Farhan Akhtar will play host at the awards presentation ceremony on June 9th. He will get the show on the road alongside actor Shahid Kapoor, who has been roped in as the principal host.
