Hatchet 2 delivers exactly what slasher fans want

The plot Picking up where it left off, Hatchet II finds Marybeth (Harris) in a boat, struggling to escape from Victor Crowley (Hodder), the hideously deformed swamp-dweller who doesn't take kindly to uninvited guests. After seeing her friends get ruthlessly slaughtered, Marybeth manages to flee and find her way back to New Orleans. There she looks for Reverend Zombie (Todd), the voodoo shop proprietor who had organised the tour of the swamp. After gathering a small group of hunters, Zombie accompanies Marybeth back to the swamp to track down Crowley and kill him. However, as the group ventures deeper into the swamp, it becomes apparent that Zombie may have a hidden agenda.

What we liked This delivers just what slasher film fans want - lots of screams and bloodshed.

What we didn't like The deaths are completely over-the-top and - non-shocker alert - the narrative isn't up to much.
